to simplify . . . and closing my space at Embellish . . .

to simplify . . .

I so like this idea . . . to keep things simple . . .

 

 

but anyone who knows me . . . 

knows that this is extremely hard for me to do . . . 

as I like to layer . . . :)

My mind races around with all sorts of ideas . . .

from fabric . . . to art,  to vintage,  to color,  to fashion . . . etc . . .

yes . . . we do have dinner as a family

at the table every night . . . right next to some new project 

piled high at the other end . . . 

but sometimes when you mix family with one of the above

you hit a home run . . . memories that you never expected . . .

like the time we had this past summer as a family

at the Barn House . . .

quite simply - the best memory of the summer!!

 

but . . . sometimes one can have too much on their plate 

and life is not at all simple!!

I discovered this was the case this last Summer as it flew past 

and the kids started school again!

I decided to make a few changes . . . to my blog . . . 

to the number of vintage shows for next year . . . 

to my retail space at Embellish . . . 

so . . . 

although it is extremely clear to me that this is the right thing to do . . .

it is also extremely hard for me to let you know that . . .

I have decided to close my space at Embellish. 

(this was not an easy decision to make - as I absolutely LOVE being there!!!) 

Katrina, and the girls have all been so amazing and I have truly felt blessed 

each and every day that I have been part of her wonderful and very special store 

here on Bainbridge Island!!!

my last day is tomorrow - Sunday - Oct. 3rd.

I am going there today to mark things way, way, way down 

as I am hoping not to have to store them!!) 

I will sooooo miss being there . . . 

but I do know that it is the right decision for myself and my family at this time

(Katrina did say that I can come back . . . so you just never know!!!)  :) 

If you haven't been to Embellish lately . . . you should really stop in . . .

as Katrina has been bringing in lots of great new merchandise into the store!!!

and soon . . . she is going to have a new blog - I personally can't wait!! (and yes . . . we are waiting on those wedding pictures!!)

Do any of you remember I.Magnins??

I remember going there with my mom in San Francisco . . .
it was always magical to me . . .
it was the perfect place to go if you wanted to buy something extra special!!
The last thing I bought at one of their stores was a pair of shoes in 1992 or 1993 at the Seattle store before they closed a year or so later . . . I remember that it was a splurge and a stretch to buy them - but I never looked back as I loved them dearly,
and to me . . . they were worth every penny!!

I sometimes miss how special things were back then . . . and hope they will shift back in that direction . . . the sooner the better . . . :)

Some of my favorite shops . . .

In support of my favorite shops during this holiday season . . . I have
decided to share with you some pictures that I hope will inspire you to shop local and
support your local merchants . . . either here in the northwest or
in your own home town!!

I am starting with one of my favorite places here on Bainbridge Island (a short
ferry ride from Seattle). . . it is called . . . "Embellish" and is owned by
a lovely woman named "Katrina" . . .

As Embellish does not have a website or blog . . . I thought I would show
you a quick peek into Katrina's wonderful world . . .
so here we go . . .


She always has some unique and wonderful things usually relating to nature
and animals . . . such as this horse head!! I love horses and all the creams
and browns . . . and of course the cotton wreath creates such an interesting
mix . . . that is what Katrina does so well!!!


this selection of ornaments in a big heavy urn were especially beautiful . . .


and these feather balls were amazing . . .


Katrina mixes old-world with modern and a bit of the east
mixed in . . . to create a bold, sophisticated and
unique look all her own!!


She has an amazing jewelry collection!!!
