Serena wanted to know . . .

. . . what Vintage Items are you going to be looking for at . . .

The Farm Chicks Antiques Show ???

Well . . .

I thought I would show you exactly what I am looking for . . .
just in case anyone is reading this - and has a few of these stashed away somewhere!! :)

I am crossing my fingers . . . for a set of . . .

4 Vintage - Saarinen tulip chairs!!

why the modern edge you may ask??

well . . . I actually grew up in a very modern house . . .
and we had 4 of these chairs in the kitchen . . .
along with the Saarinen Table that went with it . . .

and a Nelson light fixture centered above it all . . .

the breakfast table sat at the end of a very sleek stainless steel and turquoise kitchen . . .
which had a very Mid Century Modern vibe to it!!!

The chairs and lighting were designed by . . .
two very talented bad boys of that time - including . . . George Nelson

and . . . Eero Saarinen
(with Eames on the left - another great mid century designer!)

I currently have an old farm house . . . and don't intend to go too modern with it . . .
but would absolutely LOVE to add a few classic modern pieces here and there
just to mix it up a bit!!

so there you go . . .
that is the type of vintage that I will be personally looking for at Farm Chicks??

Soooooo . . . what about you . . . what are you all looking for??
Would love to hear from you!!!

Can't wait for the fun to begin . . . see you all very soon!!

xoxo - liz

Love it! I don't know if you've seen it yet, but I posted a picture of a dining set just like the one my childhood best friend's folks had in their kitchen...across the street from my house. They had the egg yolk yellow seat cushions. What color were yours? Unfortunately, their Saarinen set went to another home years ago! I hope you find 'em! And I hope we get to see you at the show!!!

i love the idea of mixing vintage, antiques, mid century and modern. it's the juxtaposition of styles
that give the eclectic feel to the perfect room.
good for you. can't wait to see what you find.

Liz,
I am so happy I got a chance to meet you at Farm Chicks. I felt as though we had been friends forever!!
I love mixing a little bit of Mid Century in, I thinks it updates the country, rustic look and gives it a up to the moment cool chic vibe.
If you can't find the chairs here, I can find them in California no problem.Happy hunting.
I need to come see you on the island.
xo,
Shay

I love both styles of tables and chairs, but I am more of the farmhouse, like yourself. I hope you found what you were looking for at the Farm Chicks Antiques Show!

We had the same set - oval Saarinen table, two arm chairs and four dining chairs, in an 1820s house and it went beautifully. I sold it to a friend when we moved, so I feel at least I know it went to a good home!

The first picture doesn't look quite right to me - the stem is too straight and the base is convex, compare it with the picture below that. Maybe a copy?
