4/4/11

Wish I could have been there . . .

a very special quilt show happened last week . . .

650 American Quilts - all in red and white . . .
on loan from a single collector - Joanna S. Rose!!

Infinite Variety:  Three centuries of Red and White Quilts

The exhibition took place at the . . . Park Avenue Armory in New York . . .
for one very short week . . . March 25th to March 30th . . .

Had I known . . . I would have been there . . . I would have been on a plane . . .
and not just because I love red . . . and not just because I love old quilts . . .

but because the whole idea of it's presentation truly intrigued me . . .

it looked breathtaking . . . incredible . . .
something that will most likely not happen again . . .

And yes . . . I am totally seeing that red cross quilt above - LOVE it!!!

OMG! I saw this in the NYTimes and loved it. We have to get this collection to Seattle so we can see it in person.

Fantastic! The quilts are beautiful on their own. But displayed like that it's breath taking!!!

That is amazing. Hard to believe they all belong to one person. Wonder how they display them at home. I would love to see that, too.

Yes I have seen that on different blogs of women who went OMg
I would loved to have viewed those for the color.
I don't do quilts , Takes to long but I love them

I seen on Martha Stweart show a preview of the show I was watching her show just to see someone on from Savannah Georgia who bought a pie advertizing Martha's new Cook book PIES they had a special show someplace close to where this exhibit was and learned about id. Of course Martha was touring the quilts also

Very cool! Wouldn't you have loved having the job matching up the quilts by size back-to-back!
